Instruments
We build our own instruments, djembé, sabar and douns, and we can also repair these drums. The quality of our instruments is only professional, we don't sell tourist versions. Our drums are being used by professional artists around the world with concerts, lessons and workshops.
Professional Adults Djembé Senegal
We sell djembe's from different types of hardwood. When you order djembe's, specify what kind of wood you want: hare, lenge or dimba (traditional Senegalese hardwood). The drums are treated with palmoil and karite and finished with goatskin and premium quality ropes.
Regular size is 62~64cm high, 34~36cm diameter.
Doundoun
The doundoun-sets are all made of the hardwood dimba. The set contains a kenkeni, bas and sangban. Together with the drums you get a specific stick for douns. Additional we sell accompanying bells. A special version with a deep bass is the Doundoun metal.
Sabar
There are five types of sabar-drums, each with there own place in the ensemble. The differences are in size and shape but also in the sound: from a deep bass to an explosive high pitch.
M'bung M'bung: two types: the tungoné and the bal. Used for playing the basic rhytm. Most people start to learn sabar on a M'bung M'bung. N'der: is the boss of the ensemble with a very high pitch. Lambe: This is a heavy bass-drum, Talmbat: the tenor, Choll: can be both tuned as Lambe or Talmbat.
The sabars are all made of the hardwood dimba. Together with the drums you get a specific stick for sabar.
Khin
The khin is a special sabar-type traditional drum used by the baye fall. They come as a set of three.
